Workshop to evaluate High Mountain Land characteristics and discuss the importance of developing a legal instrument that protects them

TERRE Liban organized a workshop on December 2022, to share the results of the surveys conducted by La Sagesse University law students.

The workshop addressed the environment of Lebanon’s mountains and their significance in terms of environment, agriculture, and tourism.

Two high mountains draft laws were also exposed and discussed.

This event was attended by the representatives of the EU delegation, the Urban Planning Directorate, a representative from the UNDP, representatives of unions of municipalities and governors, and presidents and delegates from numerous municipalities in Lebanon’s highlands.

The participants expressed their concerns regarding the need to act immediately to protect Lebanon’s mountains, especially in light of the climate change crisis and its consequences for the country's biodiversity and natural environment.
