Mapping the Characteristics of Environmental Sensitive Areas

TERRE Liban has carried out 75 surveys across Lebanon’s multiple governorates with the assistance of enumerators from 14 local organizations.

Coaching and training sessions were held to assist the NGOs in efficiently collecting ESAs data using GIS technology.

Following this, enumerators were able to gather and collect data on various types of natural environments, including natural reserves, nature reserves in pipelines, nature sites, himas, protected forests, and ecological high priority coastal sites.

The surveys were undertaken with a focus on the legal and environmental traits of each site, including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
