TERRE Liban received images taken yesterday, on February 14, 2024, showing excavation, road construction, and tree cutting encroaching on riverine properties in the environmentally and historically sensitive area of Wadi Ain Al-Raha in Tannourine, within the Joz River buffer zone.

Upon contacting the municipality, they have no knowledge of these ongoing activities, confirming the absence of permits or environmental impact studies.

TERRE Liban coordinated with the judiciary and Internal Security Forces, actively following the investigation into this environmental disaster to hold the responsible parties accountable and compel them to take all necessary measures to remove the damage caused and restore the area to its previous state.

وصلت جمعيّة الأرض لبنان صوراً التُقطت في ١٤ شباط ٢٠٢٤ تظهر أعمال حفر وشق طرقات وقطع أشجار وتعدٍ على الأملاك النهريّة في منطقة حساسة بيئياً وأثرياً معروفة بوادي عين الراحة - تنورين في حرم نهر الجوز.
وإثر التواصل مع البلديّة تبيّن بأنّه ليس لديها أي علم بالأعمال قيد التنفيذ مما يؤكد غياب أي ترخيص ودراسة تقييم الأثر البيئي.
نسّقت جمعيّة الأرض-لبنان مع القضاء والقوى الامنيّة وتابعت مجريات التحقيق في هذه المجزرة البيئية لمحاسبة الفاعلين وإلزامهم باتخاذ كل التدابير التي تؤدي إلى إزالة الضرر الذي تسببوا به وإعادة الحال إلى ما كانت عليه.
