GIS system was developed to Identify Environmentally Sensitive Areas

TERRE Liban has developed a Geographical Information System (GIS) to collect, map, and highlight the data obtained from surveys done in 96 environmentally sensitive areas across Lebanon, including the high mountain lands.

Using this method, the map of Lebanon was divided into 15 sections and connected to an online application that enables users to browse and learn about various sensitive areas based on their interests and needs.

Each area will be represented by a factsheet that includes informative and legal information such as the type of protection, international designations, and important environmental characteristics.
